Kakhovka Dam

Photos of destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (Kakhovka Dam)
The Kakhovka HPP was captured by the Russian occupiers as early as February 24, 2022 and was used as a crossing over the Dnipro river.
During the summer-autumn of 2022, the Ukrainian army struck the bridge over the lock - a structure 400-500m away from the dam itself - in order to cut off the logistical routes of the occupying forces.
And on November 11, 2022, during the withdrawal of Russian troops to the left bank, they destroyed the road from the right bank, which already led to damage to some sections of the dam itself.
On June 6, 2023, a catastrophic collapse of the dam occurred, which led to the rapid outflow of a huge mass of water from the Kakhovka Reservoir and the subsequent flooding of villages downstream. Tens of thousands of people were at risk, thousands of houses were flooded and destroyed. Irreparable damage has been caused to the ecosystem of the Kherson region.
At the moment, there is no evidence of the destruction as a result of missile strikes on the dam itself, so the most likely version is deliberate detonation by the Russian occupation army in order to complicate the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
